It is not as painful as saying that you have heart disease. Many heart patients are vigilant and alert to all new sensations, regardless of whether they are reporting a new heart attack or not. What is it? There's nothing there? Should I call 911? Even if the symptoms are transient and mild, debilitating anxiety may remain. And most of the remedies for alleviating these painful sensations are in the medicine bottle. But are there any other remedies for anxiety, equal or better than pharmaceuticals? According to the patient himself, this was recognized as very common.

Alexandros is a co-founder of the CureTogether website, which collects data on the state of health of patients. One of their reports, “6100 anxious patients whose treatment is most effective,” attracted me. Where does this data come from? Alexandros explains:

“CureTogether participants anonymously shared their symptoms and treatment methods over the past 3 years. Analyze data in computer graphics format to make it available. ”

According to CureTogether, the 25 best anxiety medications say that thousands of other real patients who are not Big Pharma representatives work for them:

  1. Exercise
  2. Xanax
  3. Yoga
  4. Spend with animals
  5. Meditation
  6. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CPT)
  7. Inspiring music
  8. Achiban
  9. Clonazepam
  10. Massage therapy
  11. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  12. Deep breathing
  13. Diazepam
  14. Exhibition therapy
  15. Relax
  16. Psychotherapy
  17. Desensitization and repetitive eye movements (EMDR)
  18. Interpersonal therapy
  19. Osteopathy
  20. Zoloft
  21. LAMICTAL
  22. Biological hormones
  23. Avoid caffeine
  24. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  25. Prayer

Two facts quickly attacked me about this list. First, the time spent with animals was very well appreciated to reduce anxiety symptoms. (Are you surprised by this?)

Then, only three out of ten of the most effective treatment methods (not evaluated by a real patient and not rated by working drug representatives or sponsored by industry clinical trials) include drugs.

So how do these medications affect depression and anxiety?

Drugs can really be a salvation for people with poor mental health. In fact, many people who can benefit from these drugs, unfortunately, may assume that any medicine is a sign of weakness. Of course, taking insulin is no longer important for diabetics.

But, as we know, the boom of the pharmaceutical company promises the recently restored vitality to take the sun, the moon, the stars and the pills. For example, depression shifted from that reported in the 1960s as an episodic disorder of spontaneous healing, which after a few months demonstrates spontaneous healing without treatment. Many other treatments are worth trying, as are the drugs offered and the results of CureTogether.

It is no coincidence that this growth is comparable to the growth of pharmaceutical companies selling drugs. For example, in 1955, only one of 468 North Americans was diagnosed with a mental illness. And in 1987, the Prozac was introduced to the market. The number of North Americans who did not receive disability benefits due to mental illness was 1 out of 76 in 2008. Three times.

This will become even more evident every minute, when the fifth edition of the Manual on the Diagnosis and Statistics of Mental Diseases will be released later this spring. The DSM is a reference text that health care professionals call a “shrink bible”. This book was recently attacked (even such big names as Dr. Allen Francis, editor of the fourth edition of DSM www.xanaxusa.com).
